Neeli Cherkovski

Neeli Cherkovski is a poet, memoirist, and author of the biographies Elegy for Bob Kaufman, Ferlinghetti, A Biography, and Hank: The Life of Charles Bukowski; the subjects of each he knew personally. He co-edited the Los Angeles zine Laugh Literary and Man the Humping Guns with Bukowski, produced the first San Francisco Poetry Festival, co-edited the Golden Anniversary volume of Beatitude with Latif Harris. His papers reside at Berkeley’s Bancroft Library. Cherkovski was awarded the PEN Oakland/Josephine Miles Literary Award in 2005. He lives in San Francisco.
